How Did My Tutorial And Assignment #1 Go This Week?

How Did My Tutorial And Assignment #1 Go This Week?
This week is a busy week that I need to due my assignment #1 and do tutorial problems and do quiz. In this week's study, I did find some interesting things about CSC165.
First of all, the assignment questions are kind of hard to solve. For example, question four. In this question, we already know a statement, S2, and using S2 to check that is the statement S implied by S2 or it implies S2. When I first looked at it, I though that should be easy to solve, only need to find out the relationship between S and S2, but when I start to do this question, I found the statement, S2, is kind of tricky. " S2: Every element of T is an integer power of 2." My first thought is n^2, then I start to do a), it make sense for a), then I do b), c), d), e). While I was doing the rest four questions, I found there is no relationship between S and S2. Then I get confused and asked my friend, she told she got same problem. Then I began to reread S2, the key words " an integer power of 2" is that means n^2 or it means 2^n. I am still learning English, thus I get English problem all the time when I am studying. And I decide to use 2^n to think. Everything solvable! That makes me really happy.
Second, tutorial always helps me. In this tutorial, we solved the second question from last tutorial and solved all today's questions. Those tutorial problems for this week are not hard, but they need me to remember lots of rules. Once people memorized all the rules, then problems are really easy to solve.
In conclusion, assignment one tread me learn some English, the way to understand questions and sentences; tutorial let me know for logic, we are not only supposed to know how to think and analyze question,  but also need to remember some rules to solve problems.

How Did My Tutorial And Quiz #1 Go This Week?

How Did My Tutorial And Quiz #1 Go This Week?
Same as last week, I am going to write about this week's tutorial and my first quiz for my this week's SLOG.
First of all, this week's tutorial is helpful but the time is too limit. The tutorial is helpful because of it helped my to solve my problems, but the limited tutorial time makes my TA cannot finish all the tutorial questions. This week's tutorial problems are much harder than the first week's problems. In the first week's question, we are asked to draw diagram, but this week's questions are asking us to translate English sentence to symbols. I thought that those question should not to be hard to solve, but when I was doing those questions, I found some sentences are hard to translate.
Question #1, e), for example, "Some courses have several prerequisites."  When I was doing this question, I cannot figure out that how can I just use x and y to show "several". The first idea come though my mind is use x1, x2, which make sense that some courses have several prerequisites. But in the question, there is only x and y, there no x1 or x2 or variables like those, so I am confused with how to show the statement in symbol. During the tutorial, my TA told us that it is possible to use more variables such x, y, z, because x and y in P(x, y) only means course x is course y 's prerequisite. The order does not matter, for example, P(y, x) means course y is course x 's prerequisite. That shows that we can use any variables for statements. Then tutorial problems can be solved by myself. I like the explanation, which really helped me to think about questions and make my trust my thought, and keep working on it.
Quiz one, I did not get full mark, because my verify is not fully accepted by my TA. When I explained t1 only passed q1 and q3. That also means it fails q2, but my TA thinks that I need to add this sentence on. I do not understand why that I have to repeat my proof again, I was already explained.
All in all, from this week's tutorial, I learned a lot, such trust myself, and ask TA for help.

How Did My Tutorial Go This Week?

How Did My Tutorial Go This Week?
This is the second week of this semester and I took the first tutorial of CSC165H. During this tutorial we reviewed questions in the tutorial exercise #1. There are only two big questions in this exercise, and i thought that exercise is easy to do before the tutorial, but after I talked with my partner during the discuss, I found that  there are some small mistakes that I made, which also means that I did not think over the question carefully. I am going talk about those questions now.
" Now suppose you know nothing about which of the three python programs pass which tests. Let P be the set of all possible python programs, Q be the set of three python programs from the previous question, and T be the set of python programs that pass the three tests from the previous question. For each statement (a){(d) in the previous question, draw a pair of Venn diagrams, with universe P containing interlocking Q and T, diagramming the situation when the statement is True beside the situation when the statement is False. For each of the four regions in the diagram place a "?" if the region may be empty or occupied, an "X" if the region must not be occupied, and a "O" if the region must be occupied.
"
Question C) asking " None of the three python programs passes all three test suites." we are asked to draw Venn diagrams about this question based on the big question. What I did is draw a circle for Q the other one for T and the intersection mean programs passed all testes. In the Q circle except the intersection part, I draw a question mark; the intersection part, I draw a X; the T circle except the intersection part, I draw a question mark too. What I though when I was doing this problem is If the situation is TRUE, then there must be nothing in the intersection part. For other parts, there can be elements or not. In the tutorial, my TA pointed out that there must be something in Q outside of the intersection. After she pointed this idea, I rethinked this situation. Q means the set of three python programs from the first big question, which also means it is not empty. If the intersection part is empty, there must be something in the circle but outside of the intersection.
Question is not hard to do, but it need students to be careful. question mark means two possibilities -- there is something or empty. Therefore, when we doing problems we need to consider is there empty or not. My tutorial makes me realized that when I am doing a question alone, I need to think is there any other possibilities or situations.
